There’s Great Art on Concrete – Not Just on the Water!

Come early to WaterFire on Saturday, September 27 and check out the dazzlingly creative artwork at the Ninth Annual Providence Rotary Street Painting Festival. Hundreds of artists – – amateur and professional, young and old – – will have spent the day creating some of the most imaginative chalk drawings you’ll ever see on the floor of the Bank of America Skating Center on Kennedy Plaza. Admission is free, and you’ll have the opportunity to help select the People’s Choice by purchasing tokens to support the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation, and dropping the tokens into containers next to your favorite drawing. Sponsors include AMICA Insurance and National Grid. Learn more, including how you can sponsor an artist’s square, at www.ProvidenceStreetPainting.com.

Friends of WaterFire

WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF WATERFIRE?

In February 2008, volunteers of WaterFire Providence joined together to form “Friends of WaterFire,” a volunteer group dedicated to raise money that will help keep the fires burning at WaterFire.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE EVENTS?

Friends of WaterFire is a group that believes strongly in the mission of WaterFire Providence: to inspire Providence, presenting WaterFire to illuminate our city, transform the urban experience, exalt the spirit, and bring beauty into our lives. The Friends of WaterFire aspire to promote community pride while offering a fun, friendly and relaxing environment for all those attending. Each Friends event allows the public to step outside the fires and show their support for one of the most popular attractions of our state! Through these public fundraising efforts, the Friends of WaterFire hope to continue the beauty of WaterFire.
